Principal Investigator: Chad D. Huff, PhD, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, USA MeSH: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/gap/cgi-bin/study.cgi?study_id=phs001338 Due to a unique adaptation to high altitude, the Tibetan Plateau population has been the subject of much research interest. In this study, we conducted whole genome sequencing of 27 Tibetan individuals. Through our analysis, we inferred a detailed history of demography and revealed the natural selection of Tibetan population. We provided evidence of genetic separation between the two subpopulations of Han and Tibetans as early as 44 to 58 thousand years ago, replicated previously reported high altitude adaptation genes, including *EPAS1* and *EGLN1*, and reported three new candidate genes, including *PTGIS*, *VDR*, and *KCTD12*.

dbGaP phs001338 Tibetan Population History and High Altitude Adaptation Study
Eligibility Criteria
- StudyEvent: SEV1
- Eligibility Criteria
- This subject consent file includes subject IDs and consent group information.
- This subject sample mapping file contains a mapping of study subject IDs to sample IDs. Samples are the final preps submitted for genotyping, sequencing, and/or expression data. For example, if one patient (subject ID) gave one sample, and that sample was processed differently to generate 2 sequencing runs, there would be two rows, both using the same subject ID, but having 2 unique sample IDs. The data table also includes sample use.
- This subject phenotype data table includes subject's population. All subjects are from the Tibetan Plateau.
- This sample attributes data table includes body site where sample was collected, analyte type, tumor status, and Complete Genomics (CG) sequencing version.
