Staging of Prostate Cancer (TNM) (1992) Definitions. Primary Tumor (T): T1 Nonpalpable Cancer. T1a Five percent or less of TURP tissue (or resected tissue). T1b More than 5% of TURP tissue (or resected tissue). T1c Nonpalpable, nonvisible cancer detected by biopsy (elevated PSA). T2 Palpable or Visible Cancer Confined Within the Capsule. T2a Involves 50% or less of one lobe. T2b Involves more than 50% of one lobe. T2c Involves both lobes. T3 Local Extracapsular Extension. T3a Unilateral extracapsular extension. T3b Bilateral extracapsular extension. T3c Seminal vesicle invasion. T4 Invasion of Adjacent Organs and Tissues. T4a Invasion of bladder, neck, rectum, or external sphincter. T4b Invasion of levator muscle or pelvic wall.

Regional Lymph Nodes (N): Staging of Prostate Cancer (TNM) (1992) Definitions. NX Nodal status unknown. NO No lymph node involvement. N1 Single regional lymph node, 2cm or less in greatest dimension. N2 Single regional lymph node, 2 to 5cm or multiple lymph nodes 5cm or less. N3 Single regional lymph node, more than 5cm.
